A Grey Day in Paris

Leaving the sun on the other side of the Channel Tunnel, France so far has been grey, and rather cold. Thankfully the rain largely held off yesterday, allowing us to explore a fair chunk of the city on foot.

After an uneventful Eurostar journey we made our way straight to the 'Peace and Love' hostel, where we're staying for 3 nights. Dinner ended up consisting of the chocolate and cherry sweets we'd happened to pack, so we were more than ready for a coffee and a croissant in the morning.

Freshly caffeinated, we spent yesterday wandering the streets, ticking off quite a few sights - Notre Dame, the Louvre (only the free bits - we're returning today; hopefully the queues will be shorter), the Pompidou Centre, the Pantheon, the top of the Eiffel Tower, emerging from the mist...

And as attention in the UK turns to the Royal Wedding, we are planning our next move - probably to Switzerland.
