The Bus in El Monte Says No

Feeling a little tender after the night before, we woke early this morning so we could get to the Greyhound station to pick up our Discovery passes (60 days' unlimited travel), and catch a bus to Las Vegas. This meant a very lengthy ride on the 720 followed by a slightly nervy walk through one of LA's less salubrious districts, though we arrived at the terminal without incident.

The 11.15am bus was running late as, due to technical problems, it had been replaced at the last minute, but we were soon on our way to our first stop, El Monte. And that's as far as we got because the replacement bus promptly broke down and wouldn't move anywhere. So we had to hang around on the broken bus as it steadily got warmer (the air conditioning wasn't working either), waiting for another replacement.

Then, on our way out of San Bernardino on the replacement bus's replacement, we suddenly lurched onto the hard shoulder and stopped. A few minutes later we were back on the road but moving at a slow crawl. This happened five further times. We limped into Las Vegas at 9pm, three hours late.

Not a great start...

That’s one of the problems with the greyhound buses they are always down town, in very run down areas, but I will always remember them as being very efficient. We didn’t have any problems during the 9 thousand miles we travelled across America. What a pity you have already had a bad experience. It can only get better. Skype soon. Love you loads xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

Ah you poor things quite a trauma. Kazza you'll be able to compete with your traumas soon. at least your in Vegas now Hurrah. Now time for you to really party and see all of the sights sounds and not see any daylight. I think you must have made the most of being in a British pub to have a hangover, lots of swerviness i hope! Lots of shows, glamour and casinos. Enjoy!!!!
