Pisa Cake

View Round the World on shoestring's travel map.

Apparently we weren't the only people to have thought of this photo opportunity. We were quite surprised!

Italy has been quite a contrast to Switzerland, which was brought home to us as we made our way between two stations in Milan. There were roadworks everywhere and not much in the way of signs so we nearly got lost, even with our map. The last train from Milan to Pisa took over four hours and stopped at every station, so we were glad when the journey was over.

However, we're now on the move again to a hostel just outside Rome - another five hour journey.

You're the latest to be taking the Pisa gain I see! When we were there it was swathed in scaffolding and polythene while they cleaned it. Looks very spick and span now but I can't understand why they didn't straighten it up while they were about it!
The train journeys sound gruelling and have some experience of those local trains stopping at every station. No doubt you'll be going to the Cistine Chapel while you're in Rome? Something I've always wanted to see.
Lots of love etc.
